My limited time as a resident of the PNW is the culmination of two decades of planning and working towards a life dedicated to photography as a means to better express and exist within nature and society. The means for this fulfillment came through teaching photography at a university, where I began to understand the finer points of looking, and the relationship between seeing and understanding the world. This viewpoint is challenged by the immense complexity of nature, and how the pieces fit together to form a whole. To live on the edge of land's intersection with the sea is a joy and a formidable subject that keeps me alert, touches my soul, and satisfies my desire to capture the primordial exchange of nature's forces as no other landscape has. I am humbled and inspired by this place. I seek to share that feeling through my images, so if the photographs transcend their flat page into an experience, then I am satisfied.
