In Searchers, Seekers, and Sirens, I explore the complicated relationships with the roles we play in everyday life by looking at connections between our relationship to common domestic artifacts and how they represent us with all their metaphors and subtexts. The act of photographing in silhouette form create for me a new vehicle of storytelling, I am able to explore romantic notions of how we engage in the social and societal containers we operate within. Some of these containers are of our own choosing but the ones in this series exist due to many years of oppression, bias and imbalances in our cultures. Cross referencing symbols of contemporary life with those of ancient cultures. Armed with common household objects, my subjects demonstrate their strength, adaptability, and resilience in the face of adversity.

The issues raised in Searchers, Seekers, and Sirens, bring into context current manifestations of enduring societal problems. Using silhouettes can humanize and bring focus to the sometimes overwhelming struggles facing women and society, and remind us of our shared Journey.
