These images come from a larger edit for the Oct 2020 National Geographic Magazine Story "America's Long-Neglected Hiking Trails Are More Popular Than Ever—But They're Struggling." In 2019 I walked a continuous footpath from Mexico to Canada over 5 months. These images are a personal selection made during the Oregon section of this journey.

In the midst of our current political and social atmosphere these images show the webs of reciprocity and regrowth that govern these landscapes, as well as the role of humans in our public lands.
