Face Me Where I Stand is an opportunity to connect to who you are and what you are part of.
I have learned through photography that sometimes listening isn’t always about what we hear. Sometimes it’s what we see that has the message.
When I started making portraits, I discovered that I was helping people connect. And with that sudden realization it was like a place in the world opened up for me, and I fell in.
Some of the images I make depict difficult aspects of life. But I know that when a person is willing to share their story, it’s time to listen.
Life is sacred and a person’s experiences are a large part of what makes them who they are.
By showing the people I photograph respect they in turn offer access into their lives so that we may relate.
I was taught that each of us has a set of tools for life. And that if we bring our tools together, we are able to support one another in a way that individuals may be unable to.
Photography and the ability to create a record are the tools I have to help, and I appreciate them dearly.
