By Way of Rambling is an on-going project focused on the built environment and communities surrounding the Columbia (Wimahl, Nch'i-Wàna, Ichishkíin S 'nwit) River. One of the continent's largest rivers, the Columbia stretches 1,243 miles from its start in Canada weaving and bending its way out to the Pacific Ocean near Astoria, Or. The work aims to highlight human intervention on the river from literal constructs such as dams which altered the landscape dramatically to signage and markers of an ever present capitalized west. With showcasing this work I hope to present a contemporary view of the region, while recognizing the historical significance and importance it continues to hold.
