Artist Statement

I’ve spent much of my life distancing from the physical world. In my daydreams, I fantasize about existences that are not on Earth, letting my mind trail away from the swirls of my depression and anxiety. Creating artwork around this presence is one part of a process to reclaim my space in this world and reconnect with my body in an effort to call my soul back home. 

This collection is from an exploration of learning to find home in a world and in a body where I don’t feel like I belong. Weaving together my experience of living with trauma and the subsequent escapist feelings, I search Earthside for spaces and scenes that bring the stars into my view.
