Artist Statement
Love at the Gay Bar focuses on candid moments of queer intimacy captured during dance events in the Pacific Northwest. While queer existence, love and presence have become increasingly visible facets within western culture over the last four decades, much of the culture is represented by media tropes and hyperbole therein. The goal of this work is to give viewers an in-depth look at the warmth, love and passion that exists within the LGBTQIA+ community, and to demonstrate the depth and rawness of our existence.
