The Nekked Tree
An on going series of bare trees, leafless limbs and fallen leaves.

When out wandering, my favourite photos are various abstract views of trees and branches taken during the grey and rainy days of Fall, Winter and early Spring.

They are photos taken in fleeting moments of solitude as I seek the interplay of light and shadows, keeping in mind a simplistic and minimalist look.

The images are completed with textured overlays, inspired by the avant-garde photographers from the first half of the 20th century.

The photographs are cyanotypes, combining a 21st century digital technology with a 19th century handcrafted process.

Cyanotypes are one of the earliest photographic processes dating back over one hundred and eighty years.

The cyanotypes blue colour evokes a calmness, it relaxes and gives you a sense of peace and tranquility.

These smaller intimate prints have a tactile look and feel, with a nostalgic last century aesthetic.
