Artist Statement
These photographs are part of an ongoing project I started as I turned 60 to travel and photograph the entire TransCanada Highway. Opened in 1962, the TransCanada Highway stretches over 7800 km to join all ten provinces, two oceans and four islands. Like many Canadians, I've lived near and travelled the TransCanada most of my life.
This project examines intersections along the way between the natural world and the man-made, the urban and the rural, the mundane and sublime, west and east, connecting the past and present. The images presented in this drawers submission are from the British Columbia section of the highway, part of the Pacific Northwest.
