Void of Course in astrology refers to the period when the Moon is not making any major aspects before transitioning to the next sign. It is often described as a time when actions lack direction or fail to produce the desired outcomes. This concept is inherently temporal and transitional, reflecting moments of stillness, uncertainty, and liminality-a pause in which clarity is elusive, and forward motion feels suspended.

My series, Void of Course, delves into these in-between spaces, exploring the tension of uncertainty and the quiet introspection that arises during transitional phases. These moments, often overlooked in their subtlety, carry a powerful sense of suspension, where the path forward remains undefined. Through the lens of astrological symbolism, this body of work seeks to embody the drifting, untethered sensation that accompanies such pauses, reflecting the deeper rhythms of life’s continuous cycles of change.

The photographs in this series utilize light and shadow to evoke a sense of ambiguity and emphasize the fleeting nature of time. Platinum printing, with its luminous tonal range and permanence, serves as a fitting medium for this exploration. Its depth and subtle gradations mirror the atmospheric qualities of these moments, grounding the intangible essence of Void of Course in a tactile, timeless form. By employing this traditional printing process, the work bridges the historical and the ephemeral, much like the Moon’s journey through phases.

Just as the Moon ultimately transitions into a new sign, this series suggests a continuous journey through the unknown. It invites viewers to consider the beauty in uncertainty and the inevitability of movement through life’s liminal spaces. Void of Course captures the universal experience of questioning the certainty we often seek and learning to find meaning within the uncharted pauses.
