I’ve always been interested by the concept of mortality - I grew up in a nonreligious family and, as a child, was baffled by the idea of death once I realized what it was. I am intrigued by the traces we leave behind in the world and what meaning can be derived from them when we’re no longer here.

As found photos, the 10 images used in this series are devoid of dates, names, or any other context that could tie their subjects back to a place and time (although they are old enough for me to assume the people in them have departed). I know nothing about these people, so I cannot remember them, only reimagine and recast. If we are not remembered, our image offers a fleeting chance at reincarnation - a way to live again, but differently, for whatever that is worth.
