On the Ice Floe Edge

“Balance… is temporary.

I find an emotional balance during my time in the wild. It is these moments where the distractions and clickety-clack of everyday life are set aside, and I experience those special moments; Slippery slopes, soggy grass underfoot, and shifting sand - ground me. Cracking ice, wind whistling through the trees, and the deafening silence of newly fallen snow - awaken my senses.

Nature provides me with balance. But nature’s balance is fleeting. Constant disturbances brought about by changing seasons, weather chaos, and other disrupting factors are a steady strain on the landscape that brings me such stability.

Like inevitable changes in the wild, the disruption of everyday life eventually erodes my tranquility landscape. Therefore, that is why I return to nature often, with my camera in hand, to reestablish secure footing on my journey through life, to embrace my favorite wild spaces, and to see what is new, knowing that the balance before me is only temporary.”
