For the last five years. I have photographed in the Mexican communities of Little Village and Pilsen on the South-side of Chicago. Rather than attempt any kind of comprehensive document, I look for clear moments of emotion and true feeling. I am interested in making work that suggests that real drama is always in the process of unfolding before our very eyes. In order to achieve this I spend as much time as necessary with my subjects until I feel I am photographing from the inside instead of from the outside looking in.
