Narratives are invented from fragments of many lives: those personally experienced and those we invent, the practical concerns of living on this earth and the concerns of the spirit, the lives of the living and the dead. Again and again I have encountered the sound, the organized noise, the music of the rural South. I am committed to a continued investigation of this landscape where spirits are attached to material objects, and to attempting to render those spirits photographically – to convey the composure and dignity that I find there, the poetry of the continuous struggle, the humor of good faith.
