Stone To Stone

October 3, 1996 - November 2, 1996

This portfolio expresses my passion for stones: STONE shaped by the forces of nature and STONE sculptured by the forces of the mind and soul. These forces, our primordial relationship to the earth and our need to record our history, come together in diptychs, which reveal the synergy of the outer and the inner environs. The outer is the desert in the Southwest and the inner is the culture, the art and the essence of inhabitants who had disappeared. They left traces of their daily and spiritual lives in pictograms on canyon walls and cliff dwellings. On seeing these images, I hope that you can sense the intimate magic in this large impressive stark landscape.
