I think the most important reason why I am a documentary photographer is that I find myself constantly fascinated by the people around me, by life…And yet one day I felt weary of photographing the living, and more inspired by representation then by life. So I decided to spend a season among ghosts, among images that are condemned by craft or industry to be repeated ad infinitum. I embarked upon a reflective path inaugurated by sitting among hundreds of dusty figurines in a warehouse, waiting to participate in the cult, its sighs, its supplications. I wanted to get to some hidden, unsuspected reality, in order to question afresh what lies behind appearances.
