Shadows represent an imaginary vision and the viewer is required to supply the information. In the manipulation of these fragments, the excitement and the mystery is created. On a symbolic level, the shadow represents the personal unconscious, which is why some of my images include both a figure and its shadow. The subject of the shadows is archetypes-universal symbols that are mysterious and charged with intense energy. These archetypes are not bound to a specific culture, time or space, and allow viewers to respond with deep emotional recognition. Shadows are an absence of presence.
