Weeping Mary
May 6, 1999 - June 2, 1999
Weeping Mary, steeped in history and folklore, is a small community hidden in a river bottom flat behind the East Texas pine curtains. My photographs of the children of Weeping Mary, whose lives are intertwined with those of parents, grandparents, cousins, uncles and neighbors, began in 1994. By interpreting Weeping Mary it is my goal to continue not only to make commentary about the people but about their environment in terms of their relationship to it- how they are married to this southern community.
