The word “home,” connoting a place of one’s domestic affections, lends itself well to a series of photographs about houses and yards, whether in the suburbs of the city. The idea of “marking” one’s turf in an effort to individualize it is similar to projecting a public persona by the type of clothes we choose to wear. Someplace between what is urban and rural lie the houses, yards, sidewalks, driveways and cars that represent peoples expectations and desires. Homefront examines these personalized public facades of dwellings in and around New Orleans.
