Thomas Roma

Thomas Roma’s series, “Sicilian Passage” also explores the personality of place, focusing on Sicily, Italy, and the lyrical interplay of daily human life upon the pastoral landscape. Widely exhibited and a two time Guggenheim Fellow, Roma’s images beautifully link an ancient earth with modern people and trace the line with photos filled with careful caught details that become the narrative for this story: the light, the grazing sheep, the stacked tires, the patch of basil, the farmer, the old stone wall, the field that seems to go on forever. His book by the same title was released in 2003.
