Inner Landscapes

November 6 - December 1, 2013

Artist Susanne Wellm's series Inner Landscapes is a poetic visual meditation upon the quiet stories present in everyday interiors. Wellm constructs these images using a wide range of photographic techniques and appropriated imagery, while emphasizing the beauty of seemingly mundane objects, intricate textures and soft lighting present in each of the scenes she photographs. For the most part, any human presence is felt by its absence, as if someone had just left the room before the shutter clicked.

"The primary object of my work has always been to capture experiences that are sensory; the small things I see and touch that give structure to my everyday life, things that strike a mood...In this series of photographs I seek to convey the feeling, ambiance or potential stories that I see in the objects, happenings and people around me."

Inner Landscapes is sponsored by the Scan Design Foundation by Inger & Jens Bruun with additional support from the Scandinavian Heritage Foundation.
