Mírame, Lima is the collaborative project of photographers Jaime Travezán and Morgana Vargas Llosa with art director David Tortora. The series is comprised of 50 family portraits that celebrate the cultural diversity present in the Peruvian capital. These self-selected groups come from a variety of backgrounds, sometimes expanding upon the typical nuclear model to include close friends and coworkers. Each family has performed for the camera, using objects that are particularly meaningful to them as props. In turn, the artists have photographed and digitally composed playful and imaginative color prints that invite the viewer experience each family's unique story.

“We believe in the necessity to open a dialogue and to awaken curiosity within people about each other’s diversity. The project is an invitation to explore without prejudice and stroll around a plural city, whose houses and streets are a mirror of the entire world.”

Originally from Peru, Jaime Travezán is a photographer currently based in London. He began his photographic career as a photojournalist, but later shifted to fashion and portraiture. His work has been published in magazines worldwide, including Elle and Vogue, and he has won numerous international awards in photography.

Morgana Vargas Llosa has worked as a photojournalist since 1996, primarily freelancing for Spanish publications, including El País and EPS Magazine. She has covered stories in Ecuador, Albania, Kosovo and Israel and Palestine. Most recently, she founded Desvela, a nonprofit dedicated to social change in her home country of Peru.

David Tortora is an art director and graphic designer. Educated as an architect in Italy, he continued his studies in London, specializing in digital media design. After many years working within the art and fashion industry, he gradually began to focus on photography. In 2009 he and photographer Jaime Travezán formed the collective Jeff orGina, and together theyʼve been awarded many international prizes.
