Pictures of the Gone World

Titled after Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s book of poems, Pictures of the Gone World is a collection of family photographs spanning roughly thirteen years within the household of photographer Blake Andrews. These intimate gelatin silver images capture the artist’s wife and three sons in various moments of absurdity, tension, and joy, encapsulating “the fleeting rush of youth” described by Ferlinghetti’s poem, The World is a Beautiful Place.
Blake Andrews is a photographer based in Eugene, Oregon, who has been “shooting photos since 1993, with occasional one hour breaks.” His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues such as Artget Gallery in Belgrade, Photofusion Gallery in London, Drkrm Gallery in Los Angeles, Rayko Photo Center in San Francisco, Lightbox Photographic Gallery in Astoria, and Newspace Center for Photography and the Art Gym in Portland. This is Andrews’s first solo exhibition of Pictures of the Gone World.
