Lauren Grabelle
Artist Statement
In mid-March right as the pandemic was taking hold I moved onto a remote ranch with my partner in NW Montana. For the past three months I have been isolating with more animals than humans, and with the time to get to know them, and vice versa
Artist Bio
Originally from NJ, I moved to Montana to heal the wounds that are created by living in the most densely populated state and being so isolated from nature. My photography falls in the matrix where fine art and documentary meet, where I can tell truths about our relationships to other people, animals, nature, and ourselves. My work is about empathy.
My work has been shown in galleries across the country and Europe, and Dubai. It has been featured in Harper's Magazine, The New York Times, Virginia Quarterly Review, Humble Arts Foundation, Der Grief, Lenscratch, World Photo Organization, and others.
