Artist Statement
These photographs from California to Washington reflect isolated locations. From the abandoned drive-ins we’ve left behind to the hidden bluffs less traveled. During quarantine, I’ve found myself out in the country side of Washington with my partner, at times reminiscing about past travels, wanderlust for trips to come, and longing to see family and friends. Looking back at the photos from past months, I find myself drawn again to the isolated areas where my partner and I ventured off, with no one else in sight, but us.
Artist Bio
Marilyn Montufar uses photography to advocate for and inspire social change. She was born in Los Angeles, California.Inspired by the diverse lifestyles that surface in major metropolitan areas, Montufar is primarily interested in documenting the transitions inherent in human relationships through the practice of portraiture and in exploring the ever-evolving urban and natural landscape. She is a Mexican-American dual citizen and lives in Seattle, WA.
