A Body of Work

This series of self-portraits is a work in progress, an exploration of identity and perspective

I spent decades in a career exploring other people's vulnerabilities - to guide them through trouble by encouraging them to look honestly at their own reactions within the context of the systems that bound them. I routinely extolled the virtues of self-disclosure (for others). In this project, I've turned my focus on the most hidden of all creatures - myself.

These photographs are not meant to be flattering or offensive, merely honest.

They represent my personal therapy - through my own self-disclosure I hope to undo the casual damage inflicted on a fluid self-made cultural system bound by its labels, expectations, and an obsession with appearance.

This work is my antidote. It is a means to see myself literally and figuratively in a different light.
