Out of the Drawers: Grasping

On view January 7–March 21, 2020

Curated by Yuyang Zhang. Photographs by Anastasia Babenko, Tristan Barnett, Victoria Campagna, Leah Freed, Helen Jones, Angel O’Brien, Shawn Records and Brittany Walston.

The human mind produces a secondary reality that feels surreal and ungrounded. Yet this secondary reality can reflect the real world we are living in: chaotic, lost, and depressing. Through subjects from unrecognizable figures to the impenetrable void, these photographs grasp the voice of melancholy deep inside our minds.

In order to provide more visibility for artists participating in our 2019 Pacific Northwest Drawers exhibition in the next room, we have turned our Library wall into a Drawers exhibition space. Exhibitions typically rotate every other month and feature prints by multiple artists at a time.
