Out of the Drawers: Abstracted

In order to provide more visibility for artists participating in our Pacific Northwest Drawers program, we have turned our Library wall into an additional exhibition space that often features prints directly from the flat files.

The first library exhibition drawn from the 2020 Drawers is Abstracted, curated by Exhibitions Director Zemie Barr and featuring photography by Blake Andrews, Danielle Dean, Craig Duncan, Jeana Edelman, and Barbara Strigel. These works tread the line between indexical and abstract photography and each artist approaches abstraction differently—solely in-camera, through experimental darkroom processes, or using digital or analog collage—in order to bring the formal elements of these images to the forefront.

This exhibition is on view August 15–September 27, 2020. Be sure to book an appointment to see this and our main gallery exhibitions before the end of the month!
