REFOCUSING: Free Salon-From-Anywhere on the 4th Wednesday of the Month. Join Lois Leveen and Blue Sky Gallery for a monthly program as we explore ways to redefine and strengthen community by engaging online with photographs.
Join us for our next session, August 26 at 5pm pacific time as we explore representations of the Diné people and the Navajo Nation in the photographs of Chip Thomas, as well as poems by Diné writers and poets from other Native American nations. As a black doctor who has spent decades working and living in the Navajo Nation, Chip Thomas uses photography to both document and build a culturally rich community. The coronavirus pandemic has taken a deep toll on tribal communities, providing a particularly profound framing for us to revisit Thomas's photographs and poems from Native writers.
