Artist Statement
After months of COVID lockdown, life confined to home seemed like the only life there was. So the temporary lifting of restrictions in summer 2020 offered a much-needed opportunity to reconnect with the world. A trip to Vancouver Island represented a more momentous transition back into nature than I’d expected.
Standing on the remote Half Moon Bay shoreline, I felt compelled to revel in its features – waves, trees, rocks – stretched out before me. I chose to present this landscape in an abstract, fleeting manner – a reminder that the privilege of witnessing such wondrous places could easily evaporate.
