Balanced Rock
Balanced Rock, Arches National Park: As primarily an outdoor photographer, I find balance, or the struggle to maintain balance, in nature. The natural world is constantly struggling to find balance. Gravity and the elements define the state of that balance in the physical world. Nature’s balance is dynamic and temporary, but it is constantly being re-created. This can be seen in terms of geologic time as a massive rock balancing on the remnants of a sedimentary landscape. It may stand for millions of years, but eventually it will come crashing down.
