Seth Thompson’s “House of Alters” series documents the beauty and complexity of real places through color photographs of Mexican and Cuban interiors. Using long exposures and only available light, Thompson’s images reveal surprising colors hidden in shadow light and seek to turn what is seemingly dark into luminous color. He writes, “I fell in love with Mexico on my first visit in 1991, when I found a land whose beauty and difficulty matched the world of my imagination.”
