Artist Statement
All but one of these images come from the past three months and are an attempt to capture the sense of surreality, of wariness and isolation I feel as a senior citizen living under the cloud of Covid-19. The image from Japan was made in 2004 but I only printed it this year as it perfectly mirrors the sense of dread I now feel when going shopping.
Artist Bio
I was born and raised in Walla Walla, Washington, which should be all one needs to know. For nearly 40 years I taught photography and art history at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington.
