Artist Statement

Each of these images could be interpreted as a subconscious response to a year of uncertainty and adversity.  The photograph of a tree and tape on a car window becomes a metaphor for the contrast between human inefficacy and the resilience of the natural world.  The photo of the smashed store window display could represent any one of a dozen disasters the country has weathered.  The shot of a dubious detour speaks for itself.  The photographs of a cloud reflected in a puddle, and a bit of moss on a windshield, however, were random, unexpected moments of grace.

Artist Bio

I am a retired environmental photojournalist based in Tampa, Florida.  Before that I was Curator of Exhibits at Tampa’s Museum Of Science & Industry (MOSI).  My landscape and nature stock photography has been published in numerous books, magazines, posters, and calendars, including “Florida’s Fabulous” pictorial book series, Audubon Guides, etc.  Lately my subject matter has become more introspective; more concerned with the urban environment and the response it invokes when experienced.
