Artist Statement

I have spent a lot of 2020 thinking about portals - as spaces that exist between, as moments of moving through. This year has opened up my own personal portal, guiding me to leave behind one phase of life and step into the next. While it’s clear the past is behind me and the future remains uncertain, I’ve spent my time in quarantine in part learning how to exist in the space between the two. To me, this image represents that idea of the facing the unknown and reaching towards whatever is next, whatever it may be.
