Artist Statement

“Am I at Home?”
If one would accept some wordplay, the title of this work ponders a question which, although the following work is made in my home, is it about place?  While I wonder, I ponder our current circumstance and I find it odd that I am wandering in a familiar place.

Artist Bio

Ken Hochfeld is a Portland based photographer where he and his wife, Carol, have lived for more than 40 years.  He is known for his documentary work and for his quiet expressive landscapes.  He finds the natural beauty and lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest emotionally sustaining.  He is currently working on a photo documentary titled “Small Communities of the Lower Columbia River” and also four collaborations with artist friends.  His work has been exhibited in various galleries in Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Utah, Texas, Vermont, and California.
