In November 2018 I got hurt at work. I've always carried the majority of my identity in the things I do; playing rugby, working manual labor, taking photographs. That all came to a screeching halt and was replaced by nerve pain, inertia, and insomnia while I waited for Washington State to process my medical claim and put me on a path to eventual surgery in the hope of getting my life back. I don't move around enough in the day to get tired by night, so most evenings my wife goes to bed alone. These photographs are for her, while we both wait for me to come back to a normal life.
