Touching
Aug 1 - 31, 2024
First Thursday Opening: Aug 1, 5 - 9 PM
In-Person Artist Talk: Sat, Aug 3, 3 PM
Eli Craven’s Touching explores a sensory and physical connection to images through the manipulation of magazine pages, stock photos, and television clips. A tactile approach is taken to the handling of the photograph, implying physical action. Imagery from first-aid and anatomy texts are re-framed using wood panels and mirrored brass to distort and transform the original, potentially provoking a desire to see more. Collectively, Touching questions how we physically interact with images and how they change over time.
Dongwook Lee
Wozu
Sep 5 - 28, 2024
First Thursday: Aug 1, 5 - 9 PM
Dongwook Lee’s exhibition Wozu is a series that shows the states of inner collision among scared egos – individuals that want to look away from the truth and who, despite the clamor of voices around them, remain largely silent. The project originated from the bizarre and mystic image of himself reflected in the water. The water represents the death of the physical body, and at the same time, of the soul driven to despair. The peaceful but violent attribute of water is very similar to that of a human being. In an endless circle of life and death - born in and cross the water to breathe his last breath - humans have been searching for the reasons for their existence and resisted the world and self-made limitations.
