Artist Statement
I've always found a certain amount of appreciation when looking at abandoned structures. When buildings are unoccupied for long periods, they have less maintenance, less good care and less life. Eventually, they will crumble to the ground. And thus, they are in a state of gradual transition. A photograph, for me, promotes a better understanding of the reality of this ongoing process. Abandoned buildings are not difficult to find. They exist throughout the country. When viewed, they can be made personal and special by the making of a good photograph. The result makes the understanding profound.
