Artist Statement

It is so difficult to make social and political change for the better in our world. In contrast, the physical world changes so easily. I find it refreshing to watch the ocean’s tides come and go, depositing sea life and stones in different places each day. When I photograph these daily variations, I do not alter or move anything. I focus on the detail and texture of these beach findings and abstract them away from their surroundings. I am in awe of the gravitational pull of the moon and sun that creates these lovely transitory and ephemeral beach deposits.
