Artist Statement

These photos were taken at the glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón in Iceland, which was only born in the 1930s during a time of increased industrialization. It was then that Breiðamerkurjökull glacier began to retreat, creating the lagoon. And so it is because of a destructive transition that we see such beauty created in the lagoon and further on Diamond Beach where the icebergs land before being taken out to sea. Tourists come from all over to see these landmarks and appreciate the beauty-- a bitter beauty and conflicting trek as the beauty is a direct result of climate change.
